FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions):

Q. Why there is additional compartment next to the battery compartment?
A. The scale uses two AAA batteries, the other compartment can be used for storage (e.g. for reserve batteries).

Q. How to calibrate the scale with the supplied 100g testing weight?
A. This is the upgraded model, 200AS, it features double the capacity (200g) of its predecessor, the 100AS, which had only 100g capacity. Therefore, the new model requires 200g calibration weight for calibration. If special 200g calibration weight or additional 100g calibration weight not available, and purchasing additional weights is not an option, here is what to do: Take the supplied 100g weight and put it on the scale (the scale don't have to be calibrated for this). For example, if the scale reads 100.17g, make a note of this reading (your reading most likely will be different). The next step is to exactly duplicate that reading. Take some empty container, for example a small bottle of water that would fit on the platform. Turn on the scale and put the container on the platform. The next step is to exactly replicate the weight, fill the container with something (e.g. water, rice, sugar, sand, etc.), fill the container until it reads exactly the same as the original weight, in our example it was 100.17g (yours was probably something else). If you go over the weight, just remove a little bit of whatever you filled. Once you bring the container to the exact same weight reading, as the original weight, you will have two equivalent 100g weights, together combining exactly 200g weight. Now you can use both weights the original 100g and the one just created to calibrate the scale. After calibration, the original and your own weight should each read 100g (+-0.01g), when weighting separately. You should keep the weight for future calibrations, just make sure to compare it with the original 100g weight before calibration, and adjust it if necessary (both should weight exactly the same).
